Their tag line is very simple and to the point.

"Organize all your photos." "The only Photo Software You'll Ever Need."

I honestly couldn't agree more. There's essentially 3 different types of photo and image software -- editing, cataloging and photo printing software. FxFoto covers all 3 of these areas and does a decent job of it. If you're a hard core photo editor that wants to add in all kinds of filters and affects to alter your images then you're not going to be pleased with this software. If you're a normal person that takes a bunch of pictures, you want to keep track of them, you want to email some, you want to print some, you want to make some basic edits/changes to the image -- then you're a prime candidate for this package.

The software and the companies sales pitch can be found at http://www.fxfoto.com/

Let's do a quick run through of some of the basics of the software.

Once you download and install the software you are prompted with the setup screen below (this actually occurs during setup):

Once you've clicked 'Install' the software will go through its standard setup process. Once this is taken care of, you'll want to import all of the thumbnails and their location into the software. The illustration below is the import setup routine. When I tried out the software I clicked on the disk icon and selected a particular directory to scan for images.

As this started, I was very pleasantly surprised with the next feature of the software. This feature allowed me to review all of the images BEFORE the got pulled into the software. I don't recall ever coming across this feature in another product (that doesnt mean that it's not there, but I never saw it). The screen below illustrates the selection screen. On this screen you're able to prefill in keywords (for searching), select the images that you are going to include and even make minor tweaks to the thumbnail itself (like rotate it). I found this to be a very nice, very convenient feature.

That's all there is to get rolling with this software. As you can see -- very very simple. Continue on to page 2 for how to work with the software as well as a description of the main features of the software and how they work.
