Kodak Announces Availability of New i600 Series Scanners

New Version of KODAK Capture Software Also Ready to Ship

ROCHESTER, N.Y, May 13, 2004 ? Eastman Kodak Company’s Commercial Imaging Group today announced that its new line of high-speed digital document scanners, the KODAK i600 Series Scanners, are now shipping to customers worldwide. To support the new scanners, which convert paper documents to digital images, Kodak also announced the availability of KODAK Capture Software Version 6.4.

A family of three new scanners, the i600 Series offers exceptional price/performance, incredible image quality, super-fast image processing, reliable paper handling, and excellent ergonomics. The scanners offer five output options: bitonal; grayscale; color; simultaneous bitonal and grayscale; and simultaneous bitonal and color. Other features include Perfect Page with iThresholding, electronic color dropout, orthogonal rotation, three ultrasonic sensors to detect multifeeds, and SurePath paper handling. The three scanners in the series are the i620, i640, and i660, which range in speed from 80 to 120 pages per minute. The scanners have U.S. list prices ranging from $27,000 to $52,000. A 90-day warranty that covers on-site maintenance by KODAK Service & Support is included with all models, and extended service plans also are available.

Earlier this year, the i600 Series received a "Best of Show" award in the mid-volume scanner category at the AIIM 2004 Conference & Exposition.

Designed to unleash the full functionality of the i600 Series Scanners, KODAK Capture Software Version 6.4 has a U.S. list price beginning at $6,900.

Customers participating in beta tests for the new i600 Series have reacted favorably. Mark Rigsbee, president of CST Data, called the speed of the scanners "very, very impressive" and noted that Kodak has improved on its already stellar paper handling, resulting in "even fewer double feeds and paper jams." Rigsbee added that the scanner's long-lasting Xenon lamps help lead to "improved productivity because there is reduced downtime for preventative maintenance."

Jay Barrow, president and CEO of Imaging Solutions and Services Inc., said, "The new i600 Scanner does a great job delivering the high quality we demand for our clients. It also offers the throughput we need to manage our growing production volume and deliver consistent on-time results for our clients."
